USDA Launches SNAP Online Purchasing Pilot
For the first time, SNAP participants will be able to select and pay for their groceries online, during a two-year pilot launched today in New York State. In making the announcement, Secretary Sonny Perdue highlighted online purchasing’s potential, along with USDA's commitment to program integrity by looking carefully at the pilot.

Self-sufficiency and customer service are top priorities in the Food and Nutrition Service’s (FNS) mission to provide better service and “do right and feed everybody.” Self-sufficiency is a cornerstone of the American dream, and state-operated SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) programs, which leverage federal resources, are key to removing difficult employment barriers to help those on SNAP break the cycle of poverty.

USDA Announces Food Assistance for Iowa Flood Victims
To aid Iowa residents impacted by recent flooding, USDA today announced the availability of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for five western Iowa counties. Households that do not normally qualify for SNAP may be eligible for D-SNAP if they meet certain requirements.

Registration for First 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Meeting Opens
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in coordination with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), invites the public to register to attend the first meeting of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. The meeting will be held at USDA headquarters in the Jefferson Auditorium on March 28th and 29th. Registration for in-person attendance begins today and closes at 5:00 p.m. March 26, 2019.
