FNS hosted a webinar to provide state agencies and food banks with information about how TEFAP can support cultural and religious practices around food, particularly those serving kosher and halal observant communities. Using a sample of SNAP Quality Control data that is representative at both the state and national level, this report summarizes the characteristics of households and individuals who participated in SNAP in fiscal year 2019. Because SNAP is available to most low-income households, participants represent a broad cross section of the Nation's poor.
USDA's summer meal programs work to make sure that doesn't happen. However, getting the meals to the kids and teens during summer can be difficult. During the summer, transportation may not be available to bring kids to the meals. So why not bring the meals to where the students live and play?
