USDA’s child nutrition programs have established dietary specifications for calories, sodium, and saturated fat, and meal pattern requirements for the five meal components in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP).

Team Nutrition has specific resources available to assist state agencies and school food authorities (SFAs) with meeting these requirements:

Nutrient Analysis Protocols: How to Analyze Menus for USDA’s School Meals Programs (NAP Manual)
Provides guidance for the calculation of nutrient analyses of recipes and menus, which allow schools and state agencies to provide documentation that the school is meeting the dietary specifications for the NSLP and SBP. The goal of the NAP Manual is to provide technical guidance to assist the user with obtaining an accurate nutrient analysis using their software.
